Mmmm-mmmm

I am going to break fast over a Starbucks no-fat, no-foam grande latte this evening, Inshallah. I'm so excited!!

The otherwise taken for granted, become such treasured pleasures...

(Even I envy me at the moment.)

Great blog, first time commenter.

I once was an avid Starbucks fan; still can't find anything that remotely compares to a Frappuccino. I then came across seemingly legitimate information regarding Howard Schultz' (Starbucks Chairman) Zionist tendencies, an example of which can be found at:

www.inminds.com/boycott-starbucks.html

I now do my best to avoid Starbucks. Unfortunately, in this day and age, one who decides to boycott every commercial entity with Zionist aspirations may likely find themselves starving, naked and possibly homeless. But you've got to pick your battles, and I personally found coffee to be an easy choice.

The irony of it all? The proliferation and popularity of Starbucks in the Middle East makes my personal boycott of the big 'S' seem quite futile.

How was that latte? One of the most beautiful things about Ramadan is that we learn to appreciate everything we take for granted. No matter how you fight against it, you can't help it.

LOL Colleen, it is odd what we end up craving, isn't it?

And to answer everyone's question: I did, in fact, break fast over a latte and savoured every single sip of it :)

Anonymous no 1: Thank you. To be quite honest with you, I too avoid Starbuks like the plague when I can. I likely have one of their lattes about four times a year...this was one of those times. Apart from the zionist push, I usually try to support Canadian companies whenever I can :)

I agree about the sad state of affairs in the Mid East - Starbuks and Aldo, ya 3ami :( it's miserable...But the Mid East is so busy trying to be 'Western' at the moment. Until that stops, we can expect only more of the same, rather that fierte in what and who we are, on our own.

Please come back and comment some more - give yourself a name so we can know who's who :)

Anonymous no 2: Thank you and salaam to you as well! I'm not doing anything but wearing my heart on my sleeve; I hope I never regret it, Inshallah :)
