This is what happens
...when my mind is captured by a book: I write all over it. In the middle of the night a few weeks later, I'll wake up and add another note in the margin, and then the same thing will happen soon thereafter in the middle of the day and then again while at dinner with friends and again while in a meeting at work and again and again and again until I run out of room and I have to add a stickie note to keep up with my own head (notice the Crack drawings all over the stickie note).

To confirm my Absolute Nerd status, notice the little yellow stickies lining the top of the book with keywords on them. That's so that I can find what I need in a heartbeat later on.
(The above is an image of my own copy of Even Angels Ask. I hope that Dr. Lang would appreciate this sort of 'defacement'.)

i do that, too! and it surprises me that there are people who do consider this 'defacement.' for me, this is the highest form of love i can show a book - to the point that i feel unprepared if i don't have at least a pencil with me when i'm reading a book.
i've never used little stickies in that way though - for keywords, i mean. that is so many of kinds of awesome
Me too! Me too! Fathima, I think that if I were a book, I would be *honoured* that someone thought I was important enough to write all over me, wallahi!!
Stickies for keywords is indeed a special kind of awesome! Got get 'em and you'll see the kind of difference it'll make when a few years down the line, you need to find a quote that you think may be in one of seven books!

This is why I love buying books and having them as my own....I write & highlight, but I really like the stickie idea! I've never tried it. But I will now!
Peace,
Chantal
Oh! The sketches of crack on the sticky note brought me so much joy.
I recently been found with a page in one of my statistics books containing a sketch of a fairly difficult proof to a very confusing theorem and a sketch of a slingback. It confused people to no end and I got weird looks of disbelief...
Man I am so not like this! I barely read books WORTH writing in, because I think they're called magazines. The smartest book I read was the one you recommended 'Struggling To Surrender' and I kept a note book next to me to write all of my notes in. I think it would've been way easier to write in it =\ (isn't that the most awesome emoticon? my friend showed me instead of =S!!)
You're all geeks, I love it! I want to be a part of your club =)
ALEXANDRA your new picture's awesome!!
hugs,
maria
I do the same thing, so it seems we're all in like company - even you, Maria ;)
I've never used the stickie notes, though - but I will now. It's such a clever little trick!

p.s. Dr Lang would most definitely be pleased, I think!
Wow, it's fascinating that you pay so much attention, but mot surprising :)
