Your posts either make me ponder or laugh out loud. This one made my day! I find it incredibly funny because my sister-in-law is my dance instructor and she always tells us to use facial expressions on stage….except for the duck face. She said she rarely sees this expression on her adults, but her teen classes are plastered with the duck face constantly. Lets hope this unflattering trend fades away eventually!

(Melissa, you have a dance instructor!? i need one of those — i can’t even pretend i know how to dance, that’s how bad i am.)

back to the Duck Face — seriously, what the hell? i just stared into the mirror across the room while trying out this expression, but let’s just say it’s a RIDICULOUS look on me, because when i try that pursed-lip expression, my top lip touches the bottom of my nose, which is just terrible. (i have a big nose, okay, leave me alone.)

i must admit, though, that i DO make use of this expression sometime — but only when i want to make my 5-year-old face expressing complete disgust at something or other. (this happens when i am not busy trying out my Elvis Sneer Expressing Disgust at Lots of Things, which happens a LOT.) i also try it out on random little children sometime, to make them laugh. it works 90% of the time, and only because it IS so ridiculous that babies/children of all ages immediately recognize it as such.

however, i do not at ALL consider this expression to be sexy, and someone needs to send m*&@y c&%*s that memo STAT.

Thanks, all – and to you, Steve: Hollywood is lame…I shall write for myself instead (me and all 7 of you who visit here often).

Melissa – I think it’s just the physical representation of the new!, improved!, liberated!, pornified female. Nothing is enjoyed in its subtlety any more – if it is not in-your-face sexuality, then it doesn’t count. This facial expression, my guess, is that it’s not a trend – and it’s only going to get worse.

Yas – happy to see this raised such a reaction from you. I snorted out loud when I read :she needs to work on this: That sentiment makes me jolly.

Oh my, I wasn’t expecting that picture AT ALL. I feel kinda grossed out having seen it, a little too TMI for my taste (and thank God I wasn’t at work… Try explaining why I’m looking at pantie shots at work!) But um, anyway, yeah, I agree. Fake pouty lips aren’t attractive.
