I like the way you've put it, that doing each thing each day makes it a continual choice. That's the way any faith and any religion is, but not all of them make that point so clearly.
My starting point would be the existence of something writing the rules. The universe we are a part of has rules and consistencies, but why should it? Where could laws of nature, laws of physics, logic, all these things come from? So as you said, there is some order to everything, even when it appears unfathomable. Studying chemistry in high school, the evolutionary development of this and that chemical and receptor and how those rules dictate why one molecule performs in a certain way and another nearly identical one made from the same pieces will perform in a radically different way built that idea up--that for some reason the building blocks of our universe follow rules and patterns that can be made to make sense to us.
The god of Islam is not a bearded man in the clouds, but something that wrote the rules for how the world is to behave.

I find this "shut off valve" intriguing. Maxi does win for giving it such a simple and clear name that your friends can obviously relate to.

I really like your father to daughter flowers scenario. What an excellent point.

haha.. Maha you ARE a cutter, not a slasher, for example, because you do it with such attention and care and you really do not leave any mess behind. I should spend more time with you to learn how to do this :)
And with respect to faith, my favourite topic of conversation with you, I do choose Islam every day as well, and often, it makes my life tougher and easier.. Of course, I choose to see the "tougher" part because damn it, it is f***ing tough. So, to ease my mind, my point of origin is always God's presence and mercy that are always there but only tapped into through OUR presence of mind and mercy.
