The Art Evening

That’s Destine (pronounced Destin) on the left, and Sally on the right. You know Sally’s husband David, my legal counsel.

Tonight was a night, though. One entirely in support of the arts; an evening I can’t begin to tell you how much in love with it I was. Not because I met new and wonderful people. Not because I was the date of Destine and Jill, who are extraordinary and hilarious women. But rather, because it held the spirit of all things I hold dear, even when I don’t know what the fk the ‘art’ is supposed to mean or if we clap or snap when all is said and done.

An important marker from earlier – I dropped Baba off at the airport this morning while definitely still asleep. I hate dropping him off and away for months, but he hates the winter so what’s a daughter to do? He’s here for all of the important things and would come if I needed him, but still. I already miss him.

Today, I am grateful for:
1. Art, and all that it teaches us.
2. Patrons of the arts.
3. Men who take the hint when a woman is not interested. Thanks for walking away gently and politely.
