The High Heels

I got to wear my high heels tonight, and have dinner with excellent company. One of the perks of my job is having friends stationed all over the world.

Today, I am grateful for:
1. Rastafarians. They make for excellent company.
2. Deep-dive conversations, where on the table are discussions of emotional drivers, history, love, relationships, and a little bit about work. Surface conversations get boring rather quickly and can only take us so far.
3. The experience of a hammam, which is how we spent a few hours earlier today. Though I thought that some parts of my body were going to be ripped off by the scrubbing, I am grateful for the strength of old women who strip down a bathing suit as though it is an outer-coat. More on this experience in the coming days (when the PTSD has kicked in). Promise.
